About Stars

STARS (School Transition to Adult Responsibilities and Services) is an Erasmus+ funded project which commenced in October 2018 and will end in September 2020.  The project involves five partners from four countries who all have extensive experience of supporting young people and adults with Intellectual Disability and/or autism with various aspects of their lives. The partners include:

Orchardville: UK, Northern Ireland (Lead Partner)

AsIAm: Ireland

AURA: Spain

MISA: Sweden

NIUSE: UK, Northern Ireland

The project has developed a range of resources for young people with intellectual disability and/or autism who are preparing to leave school and move into adult life. The resources are hosted on this website and contain information on five topics namely Options, Practical Steps, Healthy Living, My Networks and Independence. These are further divided into sixteen sub-topics which were decided based on research and testing carried out with young people and their parents/carers. To accompany the information there are worksheets and training activities which relate to each topic  which you can find in the RESOURCES section of the website.

As well as information for school leavers there is a dedicated section for parents/carers or other family members outlining the process, options and practical ideas on how to prepare their young adult for leaving school.

We hope that young people, parents/carers and training providers will use the website to prepare  for  leaving school and will find the resources informative and practical.  If you would like to contact any of the partners about the project you can either click on their logo displayed on the front page or go into the section entitled The Partners.
